Season of Disaster

I know in some of my previous posts I've ranted a little about how winter is coming and robbing me of my love affair with autumn. But it's not just that that I hate about the oncoming season... it really is ruthless in Cork. The brutal south-coast winter may not bring snow or ice or things that I had to put up with in Wyoming, but the storms that come with it are unforgiving.
With all the news on TV lately about the extreme weather conditions affecting the Southern Gulf Coast & New Orleans by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we shouldn't forget that Ireland has its share of devastating weather too.
I attach a photo illustrating the damage caused to a friend's home from a storm that passed through Cork one night last week. It really makes you cherish what you have and reminds us not to take things for granted.
