Just back from a beautiful sunny anniversary weekend with the hubster and puppies at Inchydoney, in Clonakilty. For being only an hour away from home, this is one place we've really missed out on til now and that's just stupid. We had a gorgeous sea-facing apartment with a balcony... lots of just sitting there and watching the surfers and the beachcombers. And drinking sparklies and beers and just reading the paper and relaxing in the sun. Probably my new favorite place in the country, and now that we've discovered it... we're leaving. boo hoo! But oh well. Greener pastures anyway.
The puppies loved running on the beach and were cashed out exhausted by dark each night.
H and I spent hours getting spoilt in the spa and the most amazing swimming pool/whirlpool facility I've ever been to. We both got algotherapy on saturday, and pressotherapy as well. Algo therapy is basically just a big seaweed wrap. Well, H had the seaweed treatment and I got a grape treatment. Yes. Slathered in grape paste, head to toe, then wrapped up in plastic and heated blanket for nearly a half an hour, listening to soft trance music in my own little warm cocoon in a lovely dark relaxing room all alone. It was amazing. And the pressotherapy was weird yet strangely relaxing and after 20 minutes I was in the most deep beautiful semi-sleep state I've ever experienced. They put these 2 big inflatable casts on each of your legs, from the sole of your foot all the way up to your crotch. Then it rythmically inflates and deflates, compressing your legs in these inflatable casts. It was like the thing that they use to take your blood pressure, but it covers half your body. Very good for circulation and sore muscles. Or just relaxation.
The relaxation room was not as nice as the one we were in in Luxumbourg a couple years ago (the only other spa we've ever been to) but the pool and whirlpool facilities were much more amazing. It was like a maze combined with a swimming pool... where every corner you swim around there's some new and different nook or cranny with some different bubbling jet or back massager coming out of the wall. You could stand underneath this huge neck/back massaging waterfall and get your shoulders pummelled with thousands of cubic tons of water, or hang onto this steel hand rail while jets pound away at your lower back, and many many more. It was really cool. Plus sauna, steam room, etc., etc. All around great stuff for Irish standards... I'd go back just to swim in the pool!! And watch the puppies run on the beach loving it so much... We even did a nice night walk under the stars on the beach on saturday night which was so beautiful-- we don't get stars like that up here in the city. And the waves were crashing and the sky was clear, there wasn't any wind and there was a beautiful bottle of red wine warming our bellies. Magic stuff!
I'm in a panic about wednesday. I don't wanna turn 30. I'm going to cry, I can already see it.
THE YEAR IS ALREADY 1/4 OVER!!!!!! how the bloody hell did this happen?!?!?! We have less than 9 months to evacuate Ireland and then it's botswana time! WTF man!!! And before that, well jeezers, let's just see if I can remember:
April: mom dad + aunt p and uncle m coming.
May: Tisha & Scott coming /or/ we go to Scotland
late June: we go to scotland /or/ Tisha & Scott coming
early June: we go to Holland to meet up with Bron and Maurice
July? Aug?: go to Ellen in Rome
July? Aug?: SIL no. 2 coming with little friend (our 16th b-day gift to her, hopefully)
Aug?: Edinburgh Festival
AGH! And someone's still gotta sell this house and get a strategy together for the big move.
Good god this year is gonna fly. And I gotta get some work done, too.
Speaking of Tisha, mom emailed me that they were in the paper... I knew they had done something really special when they built the house, but now darn near the whole world will know it too, soon!! Article
Formula 1 season starts next weekend.... woo hoo!
That Polish guy Greg is going to take Frankie next week, most likely.
Patrick's day is coming up.
We really should start online-journalling the whole build up to botswana. Our families are actually starting to show some interest but it's so hard to keep everyone updated at the same pace. boy oh boy.

I got 2 packages in the mail on friday from Mike! I never get packages. Heidi, I know you're reading this... what's in 'em!??!? Email me and tell me! Come onnnnnnnn be a pal!!! I'm desperate to open them up but I said I'd be good and wait til wednesday. I hope it's a travel 20-questions game... and i dont know what else.... frozen Chipotle burritos?!?! An invitation to a wedding??!? hehheheheh
An old friend of mine from Aus just had a baby. Well ok his wife did. It kinda makes me uncomfortable that we sorta had one of those "friend-breakup"-things. Because him having a kid is a pretty big deal and definitely something I'd normally congratulate one on. But since we moved to Ireland and well, probably the last few months before that, we kinda... i dunno, parted ways. And it's kinda a silly bridge to burn, but in my infamous style, I haven't tried to re-build it since. Not to mention H. is wary of him. But it doesn't make me feel good to not be able to send him a message saying "well done" and "congrats".
Potato and Onion continue to make me laugh my balls off. THis one particularly reminds me of a conversation I would have with my brother:
In this case, I would have been Potato, and Jeff would definitely be Onion. "No, you don't understand!!" Hahahaha that is SO straight out of Jeff-land.
