My friends Trixi & Thibaut just had their 2nd baby yesterday (in France).... all I know so far is that the delivery wasn't as easy as the first, but that everyone's ok and it's a boy (which we knew), and his name is Daryl. I seem to have a hard time thinking of a "Daryl" without thoughts of my ex bf, but that's not a bad thing or anything, it's just funny. This Daryl is half Hungarian, and half French. Not "the only jew in tha village"!
The photos are cute but I worry over Trixi looking so skinny. I never understood how one girl can be so skinny.
On another note, I had weird urges to write my life story yesterday. Not in the kind of "I think everyone should read my life story" way, but more in the "I've had a pretty damn good life and I shouldn't forget it" way. My grandma wrote her life story before she got sick & died, and my granddad wrote his life story before his Alzheimers took over him. Now we have the stories at my aunt's house and I read them every time I'm there. They're more like short stories. Like 25 pages each, max. Maybe it would give me some mental closure on some things I tend to shove back in the corners of the old brain? How would one go about writing one's memoirs? Do you start out with a timeline, and then make an outline with "main events" and "supporting ideas" like they teach you in school? Then beef up each subheading with paragraphs or what?
Speaking of. The old school - can I just say how glad I am that I had some of the english teachers that I did in HS. Editing reports yesterday. UGHGGGG I read the reports written by the guys at work and they're so bad I want to toss them straight into the shredder and quit. MAN some people just can NOT WRITE A PAGE without confusing the bejeezus out of me. Do people not get TAUGHT sentence structures anymore? Are they not taught how to construct a simple paragraph with an introductory sentence and a conclusion? Jesus hell!
Sure, not that anyone would be able to tell that *I* am capable of writing a comprehensive paragraph, the way I throw shit out there in this stupid blog, but come on, this is my journal, not my daily work. I can write a friggin report, ok? Upon what planet were these people taught????
I am so annoyed.
Anyway, life story. I know I'll never do it, but this whole being-30 thing makes me see my life in portions now. Like the first 30 years are over. The next 3o years are coming. True, my generation may even look forward to ANOTHER 30 years after that. But I know I won't be able to remember everything from the first 30 if I don't write them down, right? Already it's kind of hard for me to remember things like what year I moved to Memphis. I have to count on my fingers starting backwards from 1994, if I want to remember how old I was my freshman year of high school. And I sometimes forget when I went to Australia for the first time, etc.
Maybe just a glorified timeline would help. And on the timeline I would mark every year with major events, location of living, music, and boyfriends.
hm.
