I have appx 4 mins for blogging at the moment it's just no fun when there's no time. I havent had a pee break all day and it's 12:30. That's something weird about life in the desert-- you're dry all the time. you can drink 10 litres of water and never pee.
OK so the situation is that we're still in temporary digs (which are beautiful.... B's rondavel out in the bush) and we have just done our snag list for the future rental house out in Notwane. It made me feel creepy, insulting the landlord's house like that ''such-and-such is broken, so-and-so looks shabby, please fix _______'' and so on but oh well, we don't want to get blamed for this stuff when we move out.
the house itself is on nearly a hectare of land, gorgeous swimming pool, lots of room, and not too far out of town. i will post photos once we actually move in (never know what could happen between now and the landlord getting our list of insults!!!)
the puppies arrive from Joburg on friday. I have NO idea how we're going to train them to stay in the yard, after an irish life of being walled in all the time. oh well the good thing is that africa is animal-friendly and the people here are used to avoiding donkeys, monkeys, cattle, dogs, etc on the roads. not only that but it's just slowwwwwwwwww. everything is just. plain. slowwww.
I like it.
work, on the other hand is TOO HECTIC. I haven't gotten one chance to stop and smell the pawpaw trees since the last blog entry. The Predecessor (we'll call him LA) has left me holding a bag of absolute *&**$%. It's going to be all up to me to sort it out, alone, as he's pissing off in 2 days for 3 weeks holiday. good luck, me.
I've been working til 8:30 at night every day this week so far, then i take work home and do more there. then i sleep and we leave for the office at 8am every day. AGH! NOT COOL!
The good thing is that since the Mr. is still working half for his irish boss and half FOR me, we're together throughout the confounded day, and at least then when we get home at night neither of us can say ''oh pleeeeease stop working and spend some time with me! this isn't fair!'', because we've been together the whole day.
My part of town (Notwane) that we're going to move to is the perfect mix of being out in the bush AND being closest to one of the best shopping centeres/restaurant/pub areas of town. Hot damn! I can't wait to live there....
...except that until our sea container with all our crap gets here, ''living there'' involves sleeping on an air mattress in a joint without curtains or even a pot or pan or FRIDGE!?!??! us and clothes and the pups. that's it.
Our maid only has a few teeth. She's been with the landlord for over 20 years so what can you do, she's an old Motswana lady, that's just how they come. Not that I care one way or another about someone's lack of teeth, but wow.... she just really has none. it's amazing.
have to run, time up....
