Turns out, autumn is bringing back my tendency for vivid dreams.
Back in Ireland my posse of friends always knew me as the one who would remember absolutely every detail of and ramble on incessantly about my dreams on a daily basis. And of course it never stopped there, oh hell no, I had to constantly analyse everyone else's as well and it was all great fun.
But moving here meant that for some stupid reason the vivid dreams stopped and I woke up every morning with a blank palette and nothing to talk about or dissect. It has been a bit annoying, I'll admit. And borders on worrying, for me, who used to get so much pleasure out of it.
So tuesday morning when I woke up with this hilarious story to tell the Mr. about this ridiculous dream (side note - it was about Adela*, and we were at her wedding, TO A WOMAN, and her strict instructions to all those invited were that women were REQUIRED to wear red satin outfits and men HAD to wear all black. So the whole church was just a sea of shiny red and black, and she was full on making out with her new wife all the time.) I was full of hope that I had once again redeemed my 1st class ticket to Freakshow Dreamland and was back on track.
*obviously I had that dream because that day I read a really nice article on MSN about vow renewing and vow-renewal-ceremonies. Plus I always associate A. with my wedding since she was my fearless makeup artist on the day, and all my bridesmaids wore red satiny dresses. The whole nazi-"you all must dress as I say" routine was probably just chalked up to her adamant writing style (HA!), and the whole random lesbian thing was most likely something that crept in there by accident now that we have TV again and I'm seeing smutty shows like Nip/Tuck or whatever. ACTUALLY now that I think about it, that's gotta be it because Lesbian Liz was the main character in that night's episode! Not to mention that A is SUCH a show-stealer! ;-)
Then the next night, it was Crazy SK* that I dreamed about, and in the dream, she had changed her blog to be an all hot PINK theme, with icons all along the top in Andy-Warhol-style cube design.
* OK this one was naturally because we're blogaholics and so I associate S with that, not to mention I spent my whole day staring at a screen, plus we just recently had an IM conversation about screen-time. But it was weird having a dream not about my friend, but about her blog format!??! WTF!?!?
Then the next night I had a dream that I had been taken hostage in my home by terrorists and they killed BillyBob and Reggie!!!! (This dream was nuts! It seemed to last for days and was totally traumatic) They killed Reggie right in front of me by rubbing poison from some exotic frog or toad in his face and he frothed at the mouth and died really violently right before my eyes. I can't remember what the terrorists did to me though. It was definitely a hostage situation and a great deal of it took place in our bedroom?!
* Watching too much TV. Worried about old man Reg's age and health. Exposed to American and UK news channels now, that night saw news report that night about the hostage issue with the british chick in Iranian waters, yadda yadda yadda.
I also had a dream within one of the above where someone said "Dumela, morena" to me, and it was the most UNLIKELY person... it may have even been Adela but I can't be sure. I just thought that was weird because that means "Hello Sir" in Setswana and in my dream I was like "HEY! I didn't know ____ spoke Setswana!" But that was some totally random nonsense and I can't remember the details.
Anyway it's good to have the dreams back.

I just called DH and told him of your dream; thought he could use a good laugh.
You know, I always kind of envisioned my wedding dress to be a mermaid costume, and my husband-to-be would wear a sailor or pirate outfit, and I would insist on all attendees wearing shades of blue or green. Obviously I didn't end up doing that after all but it was a fun idea. I don't think i ever mentioned this to you, but somehow you seem to have intuited a version of it on your own.
