Woo Hoo!
We're invited to a party-- our first major one since we got here (braaing at Bernard's doesnt count!)
It's for Koninginnedag 2007 (Queen's Day 2007) thrown by the Dutch consulate (man it's good to be married to a european! These guys know how to throw a shindig!) and it's next thursday at the Craft Gallery and Showroom... which has a big outside area and dj booth and bar and LOTS of room for the boogie.
We talked to Petra about this blessed annual hoo-ha awhile back when we climbed up the hill for the eclipse, and she says it's a HOOT! Apparently a good chunk of the dutchie imports here have married locals and in their oh-so-dutch way refuse to dance and join the git-down until they're well and truly liquored up... thereby creating a situation where all the Batswana are the stars of the boogie-down (these guys KNOW how to shake a groove thing, that's for sure) until about 10pm when all of a sudden the whitey-netherland contingent breaks out of ice-mode and joins the party.
All I can say is: GUESS WHICH CONTINGENT I'M GONNA BE WITH!!!!!
