So last night we're sitting in the monthly meeting of the animal people, and I get a text message from my intern who's up in the delta on one last weekend away before she wings it back home to France.
Essentially it's an "OMG! OMG! OMG!" message. She's standing across the bar from none other than HRH PH. Ol' Harry boy. No jive. The backpackers we sent her to has a really awesome bar there that our friend Jack (who used to work there) has told us before is a favourite haunt of the young royal boys. Well, she got her timing right, what can I say! I'm excited to find out exactly WHAT she said to him while she was pissed off her face. Believe me, I know this girl....
Next story of note? Us!
Today we were working away when some white guy with a camera comes in (highly unusual in these parts). He explains to us that he's with the No.1 Lady Detective production company - the same people who turned Alexander McC-S's books into a movie last year . Well, now they're doing the movie into a TV series, and he was scouting out locations for good film sets and scenery. He liked the look of our little office park so much, and he wants to suggest to the directors that they use it as the office of Mma Ramotswe's competition... a plot from the book "Kalahari Typing School For Men" (No. 3 in the series, if I remember right) in which Mma R. negotiates the arrival of a rival detective in Gaborone. The competition, a sexist detective who boasts of New York City street smarts... well, he needs an office. A modern office with a sleek finish (and silver fitball chairs, naturally) in a new part of town. Obviously our office park is the only candidate for that one! So he took some concept shots of us working in our posh new quarters, and will take them away to show the directors and see what they think. If they use our office, we get paid! :) How cool is that? Of course Reggie probably won't get to be in the movie, even though he pretty much is part of the furniture these days.
And on that note:

Reggie's permanent position in the workplace.

Everyone knows Eric is a sucker for giving out pets...
