New Hair and Escalator Days

First of all let me just write it down for posterity: who says this wayward child never took a chance.... on new hair....???!!! This weekend I just said WTH and let my girl I. do her thing.

I put the Photographs on the joint blog b/c I've been slackin' over yonder as of late.
Next. More tales from BW.
The Mr. and I had a lovely romantic lunch on friday in the shopping centre. Now that's Botswana's pride and joy, by the way. Big ol' modern mally (mall-like) shopping centre. Complete with South African eatery chains, etc, etc. Anyway, the joint where we were eating was located on a mezzanine overlooking a big foyer on the middle of the mall. We were mildly flustered as we went upstairs by the massive throng of little kids in school uniforms from out of town that had mobbed the foyer. The way they were assembled it looked like they were being rounded up by the headmistress to listen to her announce something... or... ?

As we sat and watched, it finally became apparent what they were waiting for: a clear spot in the mall hubbub that would allow sufficient gaps for.... demonstration of a real, live escalator!! Reminder: This *is* 1 of BW's *only* 2 escalators. These children were obviously from a village school and would never have seen one of these things in real life, not to mention the high possibility of them not having tvs at home thereby maybe never even seeing them on movie or television before. Anyway, so Headmistress rides up and down once, demonstrating them how it works, and how to stand "safely" on the moving stairs, how to mount, and disembark properly, etc. The kids took some time to go from being completely bamboozled to getting nervous with excitement.
Only groups of 6 at a time, kiddies...

OK, back to the back, Group one! Next! Group 2? Do you understand the procedure????
